WELCOME

Welcome to the website for St Joseph’s and United House’s plans to secure the future of St Joseph’s Church.

In summary, we propose to:

Re-organise the ancillary areas of St Joseph’s Church and redevelop the monastery grounds in order to provide new and suitable accommodation for the religious community, raise much needed funds to contribute towards the restoration of the fabric of the Church and provide new parish/social facilities.

The details of the proposal are:

  • Provide flexible parish facilities within the administrative building of the Church, accessed from Highgate Hill.
  • To convert the Retreat into private accommodation.
  • Relocate the religious community who currently r eside within the Retreat and elsewhere to a new Religious House to be located onsite.
  • Create a series of public and private gardens within the site.
  • Create within the land adjacent to St Joseph’s Church a residential scheme providing both private and affordable dwellings.

The proposed development delivers a number of significant benefits including:

  • Further investment in the restoration of the Church.
  • Providing much needed new accommodation for the existing religious community.
  • The provision of a modern, flexible and more adaptable Parish facility.
  • The provision of both affordable and private housing.
  • As part of the development, the views of the dome to St Joseph’s Church from around the site and surrounding areas will be respected and preserved.
